Haulover Beach Florida is named for a man named Baker Haulover, a resident of Miami Beach who used to travel over the wooded dunes of Biscayne Bay over to the area that is known as Haulover Beach. The history of Haulover Nude Beach dates back to 1991 when the naturist organization, South Florida Free Beaches, noticed the interest people had in nude beaches in Florida. Although many people were opposed to the idea of a nude beach, and still are, the Florida beach was an instant hit with locals and tourists.

Although the beach in Florida is known as Haulover nude beach, the southern section of the beach is more family oriented and requires that visitors remain clothed. The nudist section of the beach is partitioned off and isn't visible from the southern section of the beach. Both the nude part of the beach and the regular part have lifeguards on duty from early morning until dusk. The beach is also patrolled by security guards and gawkers are strictly prohibited, making the atmosphere feel secure for swimmers. The beach contains shower facilities, restrooms, picnic tables, and concession stands.

Besides swimming and sunbathing, one of the main attractions at Haulover Nude Beach is its sparkling marina and 180 acre park, located right across the street from Haulover Nude Beach. The marina contains the largest charter fishing fleet in all of South Florida. The spacious park also has souvenir shops, picnic pavillions, two restaurants, and an icecream shop. Vacations to Haulover beach can also be spent flying a kite in the park or playing a round of Florida golf on the ten-hole course of Haulover Beach Florida.
